Why I want to serve on Hampton Roads Pride Board:
I am an attorney. When I was recently asked to consider applying for a position on the Board of Directors for Hampton Roads Pride, my primary thoughts involved the announcement at the August membership meeting that Pride’s current legal counsel will be stepping down from the Board at the end of her term on November 6, 2017. This announcement troubled me considering Pride’s size, scope of community involvement and the potential legal tripwires any tax-exempt organization faces. This change of circumstances forms the basis for why I want to serve on the H. R. Pride Board.
