This year’s Summer Games are turning “out” to be all rainbows and unicorns as gay athletes show rule. And it’s no wonder with a record 45 out athletes from around the world competing this year. Here are some of the highlights so far:

Gay Olympics volunteer proposes to her Brazilian rugby player girlfriend

This is the happy moment a Rio Olympics worker proposed to her Brazillian rugby sevens playing partner as the world watched on.

Stadium manager Marjorie Enya, 25, walked out onto the pitch after the women’s rugby grand final concluded on Monday evening local time.

Dressed in her Olympic volunteer uniform, Ms Enya asked her girlfriend Isadora Cerullo, 25, to marry her.

She said yes. And the pair shared a deep kiss that was broadcast around the world and celebrated on social media.

Tonga’s Olympic flag bearer wins the Olympic opening ceremony.
Anyone watching the 2016 Olympic opening ceremony from Rio got quite a treat when Tonga’s flag bearer Pita Taufatofua walked out.

Wearing a necklace and a traditional Tepenu ceremonial dress, the 32-year-old proudly marched at the front of his country’s procession at Maracanã Stadium — much to the enjoyment it seems of everyone watching.

Without a shirt and oiled-up, the Taekwondo Olympian pretty much made our Olympics.

Openly gay diver Tom Daley wins bronze medal in synchronized diving

Tom Daley, an openly gay diver from Britain, won a bronze medal today at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics with teammate Daniel Goodfellow in the men’s 10-meter synchronized platform diving.

“Oh my God!” Daley shouted after winning the bronze. As soon as the scores were announced, giving them the bronze, Daley and Goodfellow hugged, then jumped into the pool together.

Daley came out in December 2013 and is now engaged to screenwriter Dustin Lance Black.
