We all know that June is basically a month-long gay version of Mardi Gras with Pride celebrations across the country at its core.
But the history the gay pride movement is just as rich, albeit not so filled with great parties. Pride month crystallized around the Stonewall Uprising in Greenwich Village in June 1969. But both before and after that pivotal event, dozens of people and events helped move LGBTQ equality forward.
