The LGBT community and supporters of marijuana law reform are taking over one of the most luxurious ships in Hampton Roads for a night.
What could possibly go wrong?
OutWire757 has teamed up with Virginia NORML to give you what we’re cheekily calling The Big Gay Cruise for Weed.
First let me tell you about the cause, then I’ll tell you about the gala.
Virginia is making historic strides when it comes to marijuana reform, largely thanks to Virginia NORML. Last year Virginia NORML worked closely with members of the General Assembly from both sides of the aisle to draft — and unanimously pass — the bill that will lead to five marijuana processors opening in Virginia in 2019. This upcoming session, Virginia NORML is pushing for the removal of the THC cap, so that veterans, cancer patients, our brothers and sisters with AIDS, and those with mental health issues can have access to the proper medicine they need.
We are all veterans of other movements, so we know how this works. When the community rallies, organizes, and supports the organizations doing the work, things can change fast. We are rallying behind Virginia NORML because we too believe in decriminalization, medical cannabis for all who need it, and ultimately the freedom to recreationally use this plant God gave us.
Speaking of freedom… Who’s up for a premium open bar and four course meal on the luxuriously refurbished Spirit of Norfolk, just as the winter doldrums hit?
The theme: looking good in green.
This will be a truly divine evening full of dancing, courtesy of DJ Kenny Murray, revelry, and delicious food. The menu includes Oven Baked Atlantic Cod Filet, Braised Beef Short Ribs, and Whole-Roasted Pork Loin in a Dijon Mustard Cream Sauce, mmmm. We will have a full indoor deck all to ourselves, and access to the moon on the open top deck. Your ticket is all inclusive.
For some added fun, The Big Gay Cruise for Weed is going to feature a bachelor and bachelorette auction. Why not. It’s for a great cause, and we will have some awesome people participating.
We hope to have you aboard! Seats are limited, so we suggest reserving yours early. Go to vanorml.org/cruise to get your ticket.
