On Tuesday, the Virginia Senate approved four LGBT-friendly pieces of legislation.
Senators voted to:
- ban conversion therapy on minors under the age of 18,
- adopt standard public school policies for transgender students,
- streamline the process for transgender people to change their birth certificates’
- update Virginia code that banned same-sex marriage.
All four pieces of legislation are headed to the House of Delegates and if adopted, will go to Governor Northam’s desk for his signature.
