On Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16, The Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau will host the first ever Virginia LGBT Family Conference during Hampton Roads Pride Week. The two-day event will feature a Virginia LGBT Family Expo (Wednesday, June 15) and Virginia LGBT Family Conference (Thursday, June 16) at M2 Pictures (132 E Queen Street, Hampton, VA, 23669) in downtown Hampton and the Second annual Pride Party on the Peninsula (Wednesday, June 15) at Oyster Alley in the Crowne Plaza Hampton Marina Hotel (700 Settlers Landing Road, Hampton, VA 23669).
On Wednesday, June 15, the Virginia LGBT Family Expo will take place at M2 Pictures. The general public is invited to visit with vendors that understand the needs of the LGBT community. The expo is free and open to the public. In addition, visiting families will have the opportunity to partake in pre-conference familiarization tours of Hampton family attractions.
From 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, enjoy the FREE Second annual Pride Party on the Peninsula, presented by the Hampton Convention & Visitor Bureau and Downtown Hampton Development Partnership, and taking place at Oyster Alley in the Crowne Plaza Hampton Marina Hotel. Live music will be provided by Mama’s Black Sheep. The first 300 guests will receive a complimentary drink ticket (register for your ticket at www.visithampton.com/prideparty/ ) with a cash bar after that. Other highlights include complimentary food and raffle drawings. Free parking is available throughout downtown Hampton.
On Thursday, June 16, the Virginia LGBT Family Conference opens at M2 Pictures. Organizations represented at this year’s conference include the Trans Youth Equality Foundation, Equality Virginia, ACCESS AIDS, and more. Those who register for a room at the Crowne Plaza Hampton Marina Hotel will receive access for two adults and two children to attend the conference for free. Those who don’t want to book a room but want to attend Thursday’s conference can pay $25.00 per person, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
