Later today, the Virginia Values Act (SB 868 & HB1663) will have their third reading on the floor of the House of Delegates and Senate in Richmond.
This bill passage is historic as Virginia will be the first state in the South to enact LGBT protections for its citizens, the first state in over a decade to add LGBTQ protections to its non-discrimination law and the first state since 1993 to add a prohibition on discrimination in public accommodation to its code.
Earlier, HRC President Alphonse David joined the bill’s sponsors and other leaders in Richmond at a press conference. You may watch the entirety of the press event HERE.
Stay tuned today for further updates.
