The latest edition of OutLife757 Magazine hit the streets this week. Accompanying it is the premier edition of OutGuide757, Hampton Roads’ new LGBTQ business and organization directory.
“With OutWire757.com, OutLife757 Magazine, and now the directory, we’ve given the LGBTQ community three ways to connect, both with each other as well as with allied businesses and organizations who support us,” said editor Andrew Roberts.
The winter/spring edition of OutLife757 magazine traditionally has a focus on gay weddings, and this edition follows suite.
“This June will be three years since the Obergefell v. Hodges decision gave the LGBTQ community the right to marry,” said Roberts. “We thought we’d take a look at how the community has embraced that right and made it our own. And, most importantly, examine what the current political antagonism towards our community means for the future of that right.”
The magazine also highlights Old Dominion University’s Safe Space initiatives and the Samaritan House’s efforts to combat homelessness, abuse, and human trafficking.
Accompanying the magazine is the premier edition of OutGuide757. The Guide includes listings of over 100 businesses and organizations that cater to the Hampton Roads LGBTQ community.
“Long-timers will remember Barry Moore’s Lambda Guide directory,” said Roberts. “We were in the process of working with him to resurrect it when he passed away. It took us a couple of years, but we’re proud to carry on his project. It’s a valuable resource for the community.”
Both publications are distributed free of charge at 50 locations around Hampton Roads, as well as at special events and Pride festivals from Richmond to the Outer Banks. Free digital editions of both publications are available for download on OutWire757.com.
