Hampton Roads Business OutReach (HRBOR) President Tracy Tyron Skinner resigned from his position yesterday. His departure brings the number of board member resignations in the past two months to four, all for a variety of reasons.
In a statement to Outwire757, Skinner said, “It has been an honor working with and helping develop the membership of HRBOR during my tenure. The support and alliances made with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and other affiliates across the nation have proven to be life changing. Although my tenure as President was brief, lessons learned will serve me for a lifetime.”
HRBOR Vice President Christian Strange said, “We are a working board, especially interested in identifying people of color and women who are business professionals or business owners. We would like to add board members who can bring diversity of thought to the organization and who are interested in promoting an inclusive and welcoming business environment in Hampton Roads.”
Skinners’ resignation follows that of vice president Jack Pierson and board member Eric Hause* in September, and board member Phil Smith, who also resigned yesterday. In addition, HRBOR’s administrative assistant, Kyle Davis, left in October.
Hampton Roads Business OutReach (HRBOR) is the area’s only LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce. The organization was founded in 2006 to promote LGBTQ influence through business ownership, workforce equality, and active consumerism.
