Yesterday afternoon, several hundred people turned out for a peaceful protest and call for the removal of the “Johnny Reb” statue that has stood in downtown Norfolk since the early 20th century.
Sparked by last weekend’s events in Charlottesville, citizens, local officials, including Gov. McAuliffe have called for the relocation of Confederate statues to cemeteries from city centers.
Local photographer Jennifer Gallagher on hand to document the event and generously shared her photos with OutWire757.
