Laura Habr Announces Bid to Become Virginia Beach City Treasurer

Last night in a social media post, Laura Habr, owner of Croc’s 19th Street Bistro and community activist, announced her her candidacy to become the City Treasurer of Virginia Beach. 

Habr is a third generation resident of Virginia Beach and small business owner, Habr points to her experience running a business and as an advocate to ban smoking in Virginia Beach restaurants, co-founder of the ViBe Creative District and Old Beach Farmer’s Market and other work in the community as qualifications to run the Virginia Beach City Treasurer’s Office. In the social media announcement, Habr said the following:

“I want to serve the citizens of Virginia Beach by improving their experiences in the City Treasurer’s office. Little in the treasurer’s office has changed over the past 40 years and I think it is past due for improvement. I would like to incorporate innovations to make it more businesslike, modern and efficient.”

Habr went on to state that, “my emphasis will be on customer service by improving the experience of dealing with the Treasurer’s office and to represent the interest of the citizens. My history of building alliances and embracing innovation will serve the City and its citizens well. I will never forget that I have been hired by the citizens of Virginia Beach and that they deserve top-notch customer service. I love Virginia Beach and want to make sure it is the best place to live, work, play, retire and raise a family.”

Habr will kick off her campaign at Croc’s 19th Street Bistro on Tuesday, June 11 from 6-8 p.m. Croc’s 19th Street Bistro is located at 620 19th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
