LGBT Life Center this week announced that Charles Kirtland was recently elected as Chair of the Board of Directors. Kirtland, who is a pillar of the local LGBTQ community and has raised tens of thousands for local LGBTQ non-profits and other charitable organizations, started his term effective August 1.
He succeeds Greg Rosenburg who served two three-year terms and is stepping down due term limits outlined in the board by-laws. Prior to that, Greg was a board member for six years, three of which he was board chair. Greg will continue to be active with the center as a dedicated volunteer.
“It has been a privilege to serve our community as a board member and president of the board of directors of LGBT Life Center for the past six years,” said Rosenberg. “I am so incredibly proud of the work the board, our CEO, Stacie Walls, and the staff have accomplished. I know Charles will continue the growth of the agency and ensure the that the important work and vital services LGBT Life Center provides remain accessible to our community.”
Kirtland said, “I’m grateful for the leadership we had in our last board chair, Greg Rosenberg, as he oversaw major strategic growth that will have a lasting impact on Hampton Roads.”
“I’m inspired daily by the staff, our CEO, Stacie Walls, and my fellow board members who are committed to transform people’s lives,” he went on to say. “As I take on this endeavor, I am committed to dream more, learn more, and become more, imagining all the possibilities the LGBT Life Center can continue to provide for our community today and well into the future.”
LGBT Life Center CEO, Stacie Walls, noted the role that Rosenberg played in the growth of the Center. “Greg has been an incredible board president at a time our agency experienced tremendous growth. From the time Greg started as chair, the agency has seen a 20% growth in staff, expanded our facilities footprint by three additional buildings, opened a clinic, a pharmacy, and underwent a rebrand. His trust and belief in the mission of this organization and in our people to get the job done has bolstered our LGBTQ community for decades to come.”
She went on to say, “Charles Kirtland has an unparalleled passion for the work we do and is an active, respected member of the LGBTQ community in Hampton Roads. We are honored to have him as board president and look forward to working with him in service to the Hampton Roads LGBTQ community.”
LGBT Life Center was formerly known as CANDII House, Full Circle CANDII, and ACCESS AIDS Care/LGBT Center of Hampton Roads until June of 2017 when it expanded its mission and rebranded as LGBT Life Center.
