Hillary Clinton’s former running mate Senator Tim Kaine officiated his first same-sex marriage on the night of President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
“We hadn’t been in a hurry to make it legal,” McLeod explained to Roll Call. “We really were hoping to do it as soon as we could before the Trump administration.”
Kaine, who’s friends with Jones’ brother, suggested an Inauguration Day wedding and offered to preside over the nuptials.
Congratulations to the happy couple and thanks to Sen. Kaine for standing in solidarity with the LGBT community.
