Outer Banks Pridefest’s Tenth Anniversary is a go this weekend in Manteo.
The three-day gay pride festival features several paid events and a free main pride festival on Saturday afternoon from 1:30pm-6:30pm at the Creef/Davis town park on the historic waterfront in Manteo, NC. Coolers are permitted, as well as open containers carried from the Lost Colony Brewery across the street from the festival location.
The weekend kicks on with a sold out Friday evening sunset cruise aboard the Crystal Dawn followed by the Pride and Joy Drag Show at the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills with Jennifer Warner and guests. The weekend closes on Sunday with Jennifer Warner’s Drag Brunch at Avenue Grille in Manteo. Guests may pay for the Pride and Joy Drag Show and Drag Brunch at the door.
OBX Pride, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity. Since it’s inception in 2011, OBX Pride has supported Outer Banks youth by hosting a “Kid’s Corner” at the festival, enforcing a family-friendly atmosphere for all daytime activities, sponsoring events such as a karaoke/dance for the high school students during Pridefest, and also offering a scholarship to local high school students who participate in the Gay/Straight Alliance club at their school.
This year, they have partnered with another local nonprofit, Dare2Care to raise funds for music lessons and equipment for a local special needs band, the OBX Shredders, the opening act at the Saturday festival.
