Norfolk’s Northside Park was once again the site of a Pride celebration on Sunday, June 25 at the Alternative Pride Picnic organized by Mel Frizzell and Alternatives HR. Promoted as a grassroots, non-corporate event, dozens showed up to socialize, play games, connect, vote for ‘best dessert’ and share a potluck picnic reminiscent of Hampton Roads’ early Pride celebrations.
The group is looking to make this picnic an annual event and plan other events throughout the year.
