Creative? Handy with a paint and brushes? Eager to see your work more than life size? Well then, submit your mural idea to the ViBe District in Virginia Beach by March 16 and make your mark!
The ViBe Creative District nonprofit is seeking 10 artists to complete 10 murals at 10 different locations within the arts district this Spring. All locations fall within the district boundaries. Exact locations of murals will be shared with selected artists after submissions are reviewed and artists are paired with property owners.
Design concepts may need to be amended by the artist to fit the necessary dimensions of the walls/buildings. The ViBe Creative District nonprofit will award a $3,000 stipend to each of the 10 artists for their time and talent, plus provide up to $1,000 per mural for paint/materials to complete the project. Other equipment accommodated when possible, including ladders or lifts.
Artists must be United States residents and be 18 years of age or older.
Artists may submit up to 4 samples of past completed mural projects OR proposed new designs for murals (or a combination of both).
IDEAS/SUGGESTIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
-Birds/Animals
-Contemporary abstract art
-Geometric patterns
-Interactive murals (where a viewer can stand in front of a mural to “become a part of the art”)
-Social scenes with people
-Symbols or icons
OR any original artwork
PLEASE AVOID:
Murals with any commercial branding, heavy text or advertisements will not be considered.

Selected artists will be contracted to paint during MAY 11-20, 2018 by the ViBe Creative District. All artwork must be started and actively painted during this time period as part of the festival.
