This past weekend, dozens of athletes from across the nation converged on Virginia Beach for the ASANA (Amateur Sports Alliance of North America) Winter Council Meeting to help plan for the ASANA Softball World Series that will take place in Virginia Beach at the Princess Anne Field complex.
The five-day tournament will take place from September 14-19, 2020 and is one of the largest annual female sporting events in the world. Over 1,500 athletes, coaches and spectators and almost 100 teams from cities across North America travel to compete and celebrate equality.
In addition to organizational meetings held over the weekend, delegates from across the country enjoyed the hospitality of Coastal Virginia at a welcome event at Smartmouth Brewing at the Oceanfront and for an evening of shuffleboard at Beachside Social.
This is the first time that a Hampton Roads city will play host to this important sporting event. Planners are organizing a series of events – including an opening ceremony at the oceanfront – to showcase the best of Hampton Roads and welcome athletes and fans from throughout North America. The Norfolk Women’s United Softball Association (WUSA) is seeking local sponsors looking to reach and support these athletes.
