Celebrate LGBTQ History Month Every Day By Learning About a Community Icon

October is LGBT History Month, a celebration of the achievements of 31 lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender icons. Each day in October, a new LGBT Icon is featured with a video, bio, bibliography, downloadable images and other resources.

Icon’s honored for 2019 include the following and the day they will be honored at LGBTQ History Month. Check the website each day in October to learn about each of the 31 honorees.

Gay and Lesbian History Month was started in 1994 by a Missouri high school teacher and has been endorsed by GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the National Education Association and other national organizations. In 2006, the Equality Forum assumed responsibility for providing content, promotion and resources for LGBT History Month.

The Equality Forum is a national and international LGBT civil rights organization with an educational focus.
