The LGBT Life Center is inviting all members of the community to “Eat Your Heart Out” on Thursday, April 26, 2018 for the 15th annual Dining Out For Life, an annual event that raises funds to help individuals and families affected by HIV and AIDS in Hampton Roads. This year, over 60 Hampton Roads restaurants are expected to take part and an estimated 10,000 diners across the region are expected to dine out to fight HIV/AIDS locally. Eateries that participate in the event will donate at least 25% of their day’s proceeds to help LGBT Life Center continue its efforts to provide prevention education, supportive services, and outreach to men, women, the LGBTQ community and youth at risk for HIV/AIDS. All funds raised during Dining Out For Life stay in Hampton Roads, providing community resources like free HIV testing, free condoms, sexual health education, mental health counseling, nutritional services and much more.
Dining Out For Life is fun and simple and so is getting involved: To Eat Your Heart Out as a diner on the night itself, all you have to do is go to one of the many participating restaurants and eat! The more people that have food or drinks at a restaurant, the more money raised for HIV/AIDS supportive services! “Dining Out For Life has become our largest and most impactful fundraiser of the year,” said Christopher Reybrouck, Chief Development Officer at LGBT Life Center. “The generosity of Hampton Roads’ restaurant owners, our event volunteers, and the community has been absolutely overwhelming.”
Now in its 15th year in Hampton Roads, Dining Out For Life is slated to meet a fundraising milestone of cumulatively raising over $500,000 in Hampton Roads. Reybrouck credits the event’s success, in part, to how easy it is to participate. “All you have to do is go out to eat at a participating restaurant. And, with options ranging from casual to fine dining, it’s a very accessible way to give at the level and location that you are most comfortable.”
There is still time to get involved! If you are a restaurant owner or a person looking to volunteer as an Ambassador at a participating restaurant on April 26, please contact Christopher Reybrouck, at creybrouck@lgblifecenter.org
