LGBT Life Center Seeks Participants for “My Family” Project

Once again, the LGBT Life Center is producing the “My Family” photography project that celebrates the unique diversity of LGBTQ families in Hampton Roads. Last produced in 2016, the project will feature a wide variety of family units that challenge traditional notions of what it means to be a ‘family’ via the medium of photography.

Coastal Virginia is home to many LGBTQ families and this project is to demonstrate wide diversity and normality found in our community. While each family featured are unique and make integral contributions to the quality of life in Coastal Virginia, the universal truth found in each family is the love they share for one another — proof that love defines a family.

Past families have included same-sex couples, drag families, adopted children of same-sex couples., transgender couples and mixed race families.  As in the past, the LGBT Life Center is seeking 8-12 families to participate in this important project.

The project culminates with a public reception and showing of the photographs and in 2018, there will be a digital version of the gallery.

If your family is interested in participating in this project, contact Corey Mohr at the LGBT Life Center via email at info@lgbtlifecenter.org or call 757-640-0929.
