Yesterday’s OutWork757 LGBTQ Consumer and Career Expo attracted 250 job-seekers, interns, and consumer from Hampton Roads and as far away as Richmond and the Outer Banks.
The Expo, a first of its kind in Virginia, featured 40 exhibitors hoping to connect with the LGBTQ community. National Fortune 500 corporations such as Dominion Energy and Cox Communications set up shop alongside local small businesses, arts organizations, and non-profits at Old Dominion’s Ted Constant Center for the event.
“This is a game changer for this region,” said Christian Strange, president of Hampton Roads Business Outreach (HRBOR) and co-presenter of the Expo.”Back in the days of the first Pridefests, we were lucky to have a few gay businesses and some people selling stickers, t-shirts, and necklaces. Today, we brought together companies and organizations that provided a needed validation for the LGBTQ community. This Expo connected people who may not have known the other existed.”
The annual event will take place again in March 2020. Details are at www.OutWork757.com.
