Yesterday’s oppressive heat and humidity could not keep thousands from throughout Hampton Roads from descending on downtown Norfolk’s Town Point Park to “Stand Up, Stand Out – 30 Years Strong” to celebrate the 30th Hampton Road’s 30th PrideFest.
This year’s celebration was the culmination of a busy month in Hampton Roads with many events planned to celebrate the diversity and raise the visibility of the LGBTQ community. The diverse and youthful crowd enjoyed a variety of performances, music, one of the only Pride boat parades, informational booths about area organizations, merchandise vendors and a variety of food and drink.
The event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the Hampton Roads Pride Board of Directors, generosity of its sponsors and the small army of volunteers that made the past month a success.
