Yesterday, Equality Virginia planned a morning of demonstrations followed by visits to legislators to ‘kick off’ the 2019 General Assembly session on the grounds of the state Capitol in Richmond.
Equality Virginia’s primary goal for the 2019 legislative session is to pass non-discrimination protections for LGBT Virginians in housing and public employment. These protections were narrowly defeated during the 2018 session.
Citizens from across the Commonwealth made the pilgrimage to Richmond to advocate for equality, including many from Hampton Roads, some of whom went to Richmond on a bus organized by Hampton Roads Pride.
