
Delegate Danica Roem, representing the 13th District in the Virginia House of Delegates and the first openly transgender person elected in Virginia, will appear at a public fundraising event on September 26 to benefit Delegate Cheryl Turpin’s campaign for the Virginia Senate.
The event (details provided below) will be held on September 26 from 5:30-7 p.m. at The Green Onion in Norfolk’s Ghent neighborhood. Attendees are asked to make a minimum donation of $50 (Young Democrat level) and up to $500 (Champion level.) Turpin has represented Virginia Beach’s 85th District since January 2018 and has been a high school science teacher for over 25 years. As a Delegate, Turpin stood up for working and middle class families by voting to expand Medicaid and raise teacher pay. In the State Senate, Cheryl will prioritize healthcare, public education, LGBTQ rights, and protecting our environment.
Turpin’s opponent in the Senate race is Republican Jen Kiggans, a nurse practitioner and former Navy pilot.
