Equality Virginia today announced that that the 7th Annual Virginia Transgender Information and Empowerment Summit (TIES) will take place from Wednesday, October 14 through Saturday, October 17. This year, the conference will be fully digital to ensure the health and safety of our whole Virginia community.
TIES is a free three-day conferences designed to meet the interests and needs of transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming youth and adults as well as partners, family members, service providers, and allies. All are welcome to join in workshops, trans-affirming mental health and medical consultations, a name and gender marker change clinic, and opportunities to connect and build community.
“In the six years since TIES first began, we’ve found that a shared sense of community is the most important part of the conference,” said program director Thalia Hernandez. “We’ve made new friends, reconnected with old ones, and learned more about ourselves and each other. Now in a digital format, there are new and exciting ways for people from around Virginia to connect, without the need to travel to Richmond.”
