Hampton Roads Pridefest celebrates 34 years this weekend with a full schedule of events

Hampton Roads Prideest is back in full switch this year with a full weekend or Pride events!

The weekend kicks off with the popular Friday Night Block party at the Norfolk Scope from 7 to midnight. one of Washington DC’s most prominent House DJs,TWiN, is on hand to spin the night away. After getting his dj start in the UK, he’s created a loyal following and a residency at DC’s hottest circuit party, Flashy. He is known to keep the energy high and the dance floor packed, whether its tech house, Techno, Tribal, or progressive house.

He’s opened up for the world famous DJ/Producer Marshmello and the legendary house DJ Erick Morillo. He’s spun countless times at CHERRY and all the major circuit parties in Washington DC.
LA drag performer Biqtch Puddin (Steven Glen Diehl) will also perform, keeping the energy high. Diehl is a non-binary gaymer, actor, and drag queen living in the armpit of America: Los Angeles. Since receiving a degree in Performing Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015, Steven can be seen on television, short films, web series, and stages across the world. Steven’s drag alter ego won season 2 of the Boulet Brothers’ DRAGULA. They also are a twitch Partner, co-creator of the Digital Drag Show and Spokeswoman of Classic American Trash.
Saturday’s festivities move back to Town Point Park for the first time in two years. Pridefest is the largest annual LGBT festival in Virginia and the City of Norfolk’s largest one-day festival, usually attracting 30,000 attendees from across the region. The festival features the country’s only Pride Boat parade, world-class performers as well as local talent, and over 100 vendors. Food, drink, and fun are on the schedule from noon until 8PM.

The weekend closes at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront with the Second Annual Pride at the Beach from 2-8pm at Virginia Beach Boardwalk at 24th Street. Special musical guest is A Taste of Honey, best known for the 1978 smash-hit “Boogie Oogie Oogie.” A Taste of Honey went on to top the American pop, soul, and disco charts and sell over two million copies worldwide of this single that has been a dance floor favorite for many generations. Get ready to Boogie, Oogie, Oogie!

DJ Tezrah will also be spinning, and other special performances are planned throughout the day.
